Current language learning research identifies the value of using authentic language (at natural speed and intonation) as a model, and then providing practice activities that heighten the learner's awareness of language forms and vocabulary.
The video lesson covers the meaning, form and use of the target language, but is only one component of the IY language-learning program. Pronunciation segments, workbook and audio activities allow the learner to take time to process and practice the new language, working towards mastery. Because the video and audio materials were designed to be viewed and listened to multiple times, the natural pace of the language insures that learners will be able to apply what they learn when they communicate with native speakers in the real world.
CD Audio Support
The 20 audio CDs provide intensive language learning activities and are used in tandem with the workbook pages for each lesson. Pronunciation practice and repetition of the target language introduced in the video lesson allows the student to work toward mastery. All four language acquisition skills are utilized as students hear the vocabulary and conversation while reading and writing responses in print. The student listens to the CD to complete the activities indicated in the workbook with the graphic of a CD.

"It has been a pleasure to work with the Ingles Ya! team.
As a native Mexican, I found the tele-novela format very appealing to the Hipanic population and a great teaching tool. People want to watch as the story develops and language skills develop effortlessly. I also feel that the lesson segments reflect sensitivity and relevance to the Hispanic culture, clarifying those issues that might cause confusion or distress."
